Switching to a better deal? We’ve got you covered. Follow these simple steps to find a package that suits your needs....
In the early days of the telephone, Coventry played a key role in manufacturing phones to be sold all over the UK. So perhaps it's no surprise that this West Midlands city is well connected, with plenty of broadband options.
Coventry is covered by all the well-known UK broadband providers and a few altnets as well.

What type of broadband is available in Coventry?
Like every other UK city, Coventry has excellent coverage from the BT Openreach network. It also has great coverage from Virgin Media and some alternative providers.
So if you're living in or moving to the city of Lady Godiva, you can take your pick of providers.
Can I get fibre broadband available in Coventry?
Yes! Full fibre coverage in Coventry is 96.9%, so almost every home or business either has a fibre connection directly to the premises or could get one installed.
If you include all types of fibre, including the slower hybrid fibre, the figure is even higher, at 99.3%.
Alternative broadband providers
Coventry is home to a few alternative providers who build their own networks rather than using the standard Openreach one. These include:
- Cuckoo
- 4th Utility (the most popular altnet with Go.Compare's Coventry customers)
- V4 Consumer, which started life in the Midlands
Who are the best internet providers in Coventry?
A glance at Go.Compare's recent figures shows that Sky Broadband is the most popular provider for site users in Coventry, closely followed by BT Broadband.[2]
That doesn't necessarily mean either of these is the best provider for you - just that they are big companies with a large market share.
Looking at customer ratings might be a fairer way to decide. On the independent feedback site Trustpilot, there are several broadband providers serving Coventry with a rating of Excellent. These include:
- Cuckoo (4.4 out of five)[3]
- Vodafone (4.6 out of five)[4]
- 4th Utility (4.3 out of five)[5]
Can I get 5G broadband in Coventry?
The Ofcom mobile coverage checker shows that 5G coverage in Coventry is limited. There are signs of progress, though.
Waldon Telecom, working for EE and other partners, has been trying for a while to get planning permission for a 5G mast on Daventry Road, near the Coventry ASDA. This was previously rejected, but they've reduced the proposed height from 20 metres to 18 metres in the hope of making it more palatable to the council.
As things stand, Coventry dwellers are probably better off with fixed broadband. If you really want the flexibility of mobile, use our postcode checker to see what mobile broadband deals are available in your part of the city. Where 5G isn't an option, you can fall back on 4G.
What broadband speeds can I get in Coventry?
We've got some data from thinkbroadband showing the average download speeds for different parts of Coventry. All figures are for fixed broadband connections in the first quarter of 2025.
So if you're in Binley, Wood End or Allesley Green, expect speeds above the UK average of 223Mbps[6]. If you're in Canley, Willenhall or Stivichall, speeds will be below the national average but probably more than enough for most people's needs.

How to switch broadband
Switching broadband is easier now than it's ever been, thanks to an Ofcom process called One Touch Switch.
You no longer need to tell your existing provider that you want to leave them - just sign up with the new provider and they'll handle everything. (The only exception is if you're moving to a mobile broadband provider like Three).
If you're choosing a deal from Go.Compare's panel, select 'Get deal' and we'll send you through to the provider's site to sign up. If you change your mind, you have the right to cancel your new broadband deal as long as it's within a fortnight.
Can I leave my broadband contract early?
You always have the right to cancel a broadband contract that's not working for you. Whether or not you can do it without paying a leaving fee is another question. Always check your contract to see if the minimum term is up. If so, it's plain sailing: just switch. If not, you need to weigh up whether it's worth paying an exit penalty or simply waiting a bit longer. Our guide to your broadband cancellation rights has more.
