Black Friday will take place on Friday 28 November this year. And it’s a lot more than just cut-priced TVs and discounts on the latest gadgets. A Black Friday broadband deal could benefit you for the entire length of your contract. Or it could come with a free gift card that could cover your Christmas shopping
Big name broadband providers, such as Virgin Media, Sky, and Vodafone should all have strong Black Friday offers this year.
Once they're announced, we'll regularly update our best broadband deals page, as well as our best mobile phone deals page and our best SIM deals page with our pick of the best Black Friday deals.
Black Friday broadband deals
If you’re able to switch, Black Friday is a great time to grab a new broadband deal. Providers know that a lot of people are comparing deals around now, so they’re competing for your business. Expect Black Friday special offers from big names like Sky, Virgin, Plusnet and BT Broadband (now mostly trading as EE).
Not all the deals you see advertised will be available to every customer. It depends on factors like where you live and who currently supplies your broadband. We would always suggest you put your postcode into our address checker and tell us who your provider is. That way, we can show you just the deals that are relevant to you.
Black Friday SIM only and mobile phone deals
Black Friday is often a great time to nab a new mobile phone or SIM only deal.
Apple launches its new iPhone models in September each year. So when Black Friday rolls round in November, you often see the prices coming down on older handsets. September 2025 saw the launch of the iPhone 17 series, so you should be able to get a decent deal on the iPhone 16 or iPhone 15.
If your heart is set on a model from the 17 series - maybe you really want to try the camera on the iPhone 17 Pro - you might be better off waiting another month or two for a second-hand refurbished handset.
When comparing mobile phone contracts, be sure to look at the overall cost you'll be paying for the duration of your plan. Contract deals with larger upfront costs, for example, may end up costing less money overall. And if you find a plan with enough data for you and doesn't cost much more over the length of your contract than the outright cost of the handset, it's a good deal.
As well as cheaper deals, you're also likely to see Black Friday sweeteners on mobile phone contracts, such as extra data, free headphones or a free TV subscription. These can be great if you're a heavy data user or you subscribe to several TV streaming services.
When is Black Friday 2025?
Black Friday 2025 is on Friday 28 November. It’s always the day after Americans celebrate Thanksgiving, which is the fourth Thursday in November. Black Friday started life as a post-Thanksgiving sale, a bit like the Boxing Day sales here. Many people, especially in the States, see it as the start of the Christmas shopping season.
Is it worth waiting for Black Friday broadband deals?
Black Friday always brings a flurry of special offers and discounts on all things tech-related, from broadband contracts to phone handsets and smart watches. That doesn’t mean it’s the only time to get a great deal, though. Providers also run summer specials, Christmas deals and January sales. So don’t get hung up on Black Friday as the only time of year to switch broadband.
If you’re already out of contract with your current provider, you will probably have been automatically shifted to a rolling contract. These are usually a lot more expensive than the fixed deal you were previously on, so the longer you stay on it the more you’ll pay. If Black Friday is still many months away, you’ll save money by switching broadband sooner.
If you’re just coming to the end of your contract as Black Friday approaches, your calculations will be different and it’s a good idea to wait a week or two to see what Black Friday brings. Use that time wisely by running a quick search every couple of days to familiarise yourself with what the deals normally look like. This will make it easier to spot the real bargains.
How to compare the best Black Friday broadband deals?
The first step in getting a great deal is to know exactly what you want and what you’re prepared to compromise on. Work out:
- What broadband speed you need
- What contract length you want - if you’re happy to commit for a year or more or if you need a one-month rolling deal
- If you’re interested in extras like free gifts with your broadband or if it’s just about the monthly price
Armed with that information, put your details into our search box and check out the deals available to you. You can sort your results by price and speed to get a good idea of what’s out there. Then it’s time for two more steps:
- Read the reviews of your chosen provider on an independent ratings site like Trustpilot
- Check out how much the monthly payments will go up during your contract - we always make sure this is clearly displayed on our deals
When you’ve picked a deal, it’s easy to sign up through us. Just click on ‘Get deal’ and follow the steps from there.
Is Cyber Monday cheaper than Black Friday deals?
In a dynamic retail market, it’s impossible to predict. With physical goods like mobile phone handsets or kettles, Cyber Monday sometimes brings even lower prices than Black Friday as retailers try to shift their unsold stock. On the flipside, sometimes retailers are all sold out by Cyber Monday and bring the sale to an end.
With services like broadband contracts, we’d say it’s unlikely that Cyber Monday will bring you a better discount than you’d get on Black Friday. So if you see a great deal on the Friday, our advice would be to grab it rather than waiting.
Why it pays to check Black Friday deals before splashing out
Nine out of ten Black Friday offers aren’t real discounts, according to research from Which?. In a 2024 study, the consumer champion went through Black Friday deals to find out the original prices of the goods on special offer and discovered some ‘sneaky pricing tactics’. The Which? research was based on home and tech deals but it’s a useful warning to be cautious in the sales, whatever you’re shopping for.
The best way to protect yourself is to do your research first. This means checking out the broadband deals well in advance of Black Friday to make sure you know what a good deal really looks like. Our site search makes it really easy to see what’s on offer and sort by price, speed and contract length. We’d suggest you do this a few times and make a note of the most attractive deals. Then you can see how the Black Friday deals compare.
Most companies show that prices have been slashed by displaying a ‘reduced from’ or ‘original’ price alongside the new, lower price. The Advertising Standards Authority says that the ‘reduced from’ price on display has to be what they were really charging before the promotion started. To count as the ‘normal’ price, this higher price also needs to have been in place for longer than the Black Friday deal lasts.
Watch for Black Friday scammers
Data from the Barclays Group shows that purchase scams have risen in the past few years. Black Friday is a time when shoppers can be vulnerable to scams because of their rush to bag a bargain. We’d recommend you:
- Don’t buy directly through social media - if you see an ad for something that looks great, go directly to the seller or provider’s site or through a legitimate comparison site like ours
- Slow down - artificial time pressure is an important tool for scammers and you can foil them just by slowing the pace
- Read everything properly and watch out for anything that seems odd, like misspellings or text that seems badly translated
Black Friday comes with another big risk that’s nothing to do with scammers. Often we regret a purchase or contract because although the seller is completely legit, it’s not something we really wanted or needed. Slowing down and double checking reduces that risk too. It’s also a good idea to check the returns policy on any item before you buy. Broadband contracts come with a 14-day cooling-off period, so if you do get buyer’s remorse, you have two weeks to cancel.
Your rights on Black Friday purchases
Before you look into switching, check where you are with your current broadband contract. You always have the right to switch to a new broadband provider but your existing provider could impose penalties if you leave too soon.
Ofcom says that millions of people in the UK have completed the minimum term of the contract with their broadband provider. If you’re one of them, you’re free to switch without paying a penalty.
If you snap up a Black Friday broadband offer and then realise it wasn’t such a great deal after all, your usual consumer rights apply. For anything bought at a distance - like signing up for broadband online - you are entitled to a 14-day cooling-off period. All broadband providers have to offer this to new sign-ups. You’ll need to contact them to cancel and we’d suggest you get some kind of proof that you did this, like a screenshot of the message you sent.

FAQs
How to find the best Sky SIM only Black Friday deals?
Check out our dedicated search that only shows you Sky mobile phone deals. Sky has two great features that most other providers haven’t copied yet:
- Mix, which allows you to adjust your plan from month to month to change your data, call allowance or texts
- Data Piggybank, which lets you roll over unused data and save it for up to three years
Remember that a lot of different mobile providers are offering Black Friday and Cyber Monday SIM-only deals. We’d suggest comparing all your options, not just the Sky offers.
If you’re already a Sky customer, Black Friday isn’t necessarily the best time to upgrade your deal. Although Sky does reward loyalty through its Sky VIP scheme, this period tends to be a time where mobile providers are vying to grab new customers, not keep existing ones. So take a look at our whole panel of trusted providers to see what’s out there to tempt you.
How to find the best Virgin Media Black Friday offers
We’re hoping to have some strong Virgin Media Black Friday deals on our broadband comparison table. But before you start shopping, here are some tips to make sure you’re getting a good deal:
Check that you can actually get Virgin broadband where you live. Virgin’s network coverage reaches about 60% of UK homes.[1] Put your postcode into the address checker on our Virgin broadband page. If Virgin doesn’t cover your area, it’s time to see what’s on offer from the many other trusted providers on our panel.
Get an idea of Virgin’s regular pricing. Check out the Virgin deals available for your home before the Black Friday madness starts. Having a good idea of their normal price range will make it much easier to see what’s a Black Friday bargain and what’s not.
Be clear on what extras are worth to you. Virgin is now partnered with O2, so broadband customers can expect perks from the O2 Priority app. That means benefits like early access to gig tickets.
Think about the cost over the whole contract. Black Friday brings temptingly low headline prices but most broadband contracts have a built-in price rise in the spring. Virgin usually jack up their monthly charges on 1 April, so check out what you’ll be paying in 2026 and beyond.

[1] We asked the Virgin Media press office in September 2025 what proportion of UK homes can get Virgin coverage. They told us that their network reaches 18.5 million homes. With around 30 million homes in the UK, this represents about 60%.
