What is Rebel Internet?
Rebel Internet was founded by two former BT executives who were disillusioned by their time at the UK’s biggest broadband provider Rebel positions itself as an alternative to 'Big Broadband' with a radically different way of supplying internet. This means no teaser deals and no mid-contract price rises.
Rebel isn’t an altnet, though. Like the vast majority of UK broadband companies, they use the BT Openreach infrastructure to deliver their service and they’re upfront about that.
We’ve explained before that a lot of internet issues like slow speeds are actually WiFi problems. One of Rebel’s unique selling points as a broadband provider is their 'WiFi-only service', which uses plug-and–play 'SuperPods' to optimise the connection of all your devices. This works in conjunction with your broadband supply rather than being a replacement for it.
Like most providers, Rebel Internet also offer a range of broadband packages, with speeds ranging up to gigabit-capable.
Rebel Internet broadband packages
According to Rebel's terms and conditions, broadband packages come in three contract lengths:
- 24 months
- 12 months
- 1 month
With all Rebel Internet packages, you get:
- Plug-and-play routers/wireless equipment
- Performance monitoring, including tailored recommendations to help improve your Wi-Fi performance
- Hardware upgrades at no extra charge
- No upfront costs or mid-contract price hikes
- Optional extras, including a home phone line and additional WiFi boosters
- UK-based 24/7 customer support
All equipment from Rebel Internet is plug-and-play, so you shouldn’t need an engineer visit. However, engineer visits are possible if you require assistance with setting up your connection.
They might charge you a fee of £115 if the engineer is required to do more work than they’d typically carry out - moving the master telephone socket to a different room in your home, for example.
Rebel Internet speeds
Use our speed checker to see how Rebel Internet speeds compare to your current home broadband performance.
As of June 2025, Rebel Internet's website is offering the following download speeds for full fibre connections:
- Rebel 115: up to 115Mbps
- Rebel 330: up to 330Mbps
- Rebel 1000: up to 1Gbps (that's 1,000Mbps, which qualifies as gigabit broadband)
For hybrid fibre connections there's Rebel Fibre, offering Up to 80Mbps.
At the moment, Rebel Internet doesn’t offer symmetrical broadband speeds, which means downloads are faster than uploads. This is standard for providers on the BT Openreach network (which is most of them). Openreach are working on it - they're currently developing infrastructure capable of symmetrical gigabit broadband.
Rebel Internet costs
Rebel Internet's broadband prices are as follows:
- Rebel Fibre: £35.00 a month
- Rebel 115: £35.00 a month
- Rebel 330: £45.00 a month
- Rebel 1000: £55.00 a month
At the same time, Rebel’s ‘Wi-Fi Only’ service is £5 a month per SuperPod. You can buy it as an add-on to your existing broadband or on its own.
You can also add a digital home phone service, which works via your broadband connection, for £10 a month. All information is taken from the Rebel Internet pricing page and correct as of June 2025.
